Tidy Up

Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-09-11

This Privacy Policy explains how the Tidy Up iOS app ("Tidy Up," "the app") handles your information. Tidy Up is built and operated by Andre Suhartanto, trading as Tanto Studio ("we," "us"). You can reach us any time at contact@tantostudio.com.

Summary

Tidy Up helps a household share its chores: what needs doing, when it is due and whose turn it is. Tidy Up is a connected app: so that everyone in your household sees the same list, and so that your data is backed up and synced across your devices, the things you add are stored on Tidy Up's servers. We keep this to what the app needs in order to work. We do not show ads, we do not sell your data, and we do not use your data to train AI.

In short:

The account we create for you

When you first open Tidy Up, the app creates an anonymous account for you using Firebase Authentication, a service from Google. This account is just a random identifier with no name or email attached. It exists so the things you add have a home and can be shared with your household.

If you choose to sign in, your anonymous account is upgraded in place to a signed-in account, keeping the data you already have. If you already had a signed-in account, the data from the anonymous one is merged into it. Signing in lets you back up your data and reach it on another device.

We use your email, when we have it, to identify your account. We do not send you marketing email.

What we store and sync

To make the app work, the following is stored on our servers and synced to your devices:

We do not collect your location, your contacts or advertising identifiers. Tidy Up never sees your payment details; purchases are handled by Apple.

Households: what other people can see

Tidy Up is built around sharing. When you create a household or join one with an invite code, you become one of its members. Every member of a household can see:

Members of a household cannot see your email address, the other households you belong to, or your chore library.

Anyone who has an invite code can join the household, so share it only with the people you want in. Codes expire after 14 days, and a new one can be issued at any time, which makes the old one stop working immediately.

Profile photos

If you set a profile photo, the app asks you to pick one from your photo library, crops it to a square and uploads it to our servers, where it is stored and shown to the members of your households. The photo is served from a web address that is not listed anywhere, but anyone who has that address can open it, so choose a photo you are comfortable with. You can remove your profile photo from inside the app at any time. Tidy Up does not upload any other photos.

Notifications

Tidy Up can notify you when someone in your household completes a chore, when a turn rotates to you, when a chore is assigned to you and when someone joins your household. To deliver these, the app registers a device token with Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) and the Apple Push Notification service, and we store that token with your account. A notification carries the household's name, the member's name, the chore's name and an emoji, and nothing else. You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings at any time, and the token is removed when you sign out or delete your account.

The optional morning digest, part of Tidy Up+, is scheduled on your device itself and does not pass through our servers.

In-app purchases (Tidy Up+)

Tidy Up is free to start. Tidy Up+ is an optional subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase, that unlocks more households, unlimited spaces, unlimited rotation and the morning digest. Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit; Apple processes the payment and tells the app whether your purchase is active. Apple receives the standard purchase information any App Store purchase involves, which is between you and Apple under Apple's terms.

Tidy Up also includes the RevenueCat SDK, a tool that helps developers keep track of subscriptions. When the app starts it may send an anonymous app-instance identifier and basic device and purchase information to RevenueCat, so that your purchase can be recognised on your other devices. It does not receive the content of your chores. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.

Crash reports and usage statistics

To find and fix bugs, Tidy Up uses Firebase Crashlytics, a service from Google. If the app crashes, Crashlytics sends a crash report that includes the type of crash, your device model, operating system version and a diagnostic stack trace. We do not put the contents of your chores into crash reports.

Tidy Up also includes Google Analytics for Firebase, which is part of the Firebase SDK. It can collect basic, aggregated usage information: when the app is opened, which screens are used, your device model and operating system version, your country as estimated from your IP address, and a random installation identifier. We use this only to understand how the app is used as a whole. It is not tied to your name or email, it is not used for advertising, and Tidy Up does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. See the Firebase privacy page.

Tidy Up contains no ad SDKs and does not use the device advertising identifier (IDFA).

On your device

Tidy Up keeps a local copy of your data on your device so it loads instantly and keeps working if you go briefly offline. This local copy is a cache of what is already on our servers, and it is removed when you sign out or delete your account. Your sign-in session is kept in the iOS keychain, and your appearance, theme, language and reminder preferences are kept on the device.

Where your data is processed

Our servers and the third-party services described here may process and store your data on servers located in other countries, including outside the country you live in. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

How long we keep your data

We keep your data for as long as your account exists, so the app keeps working for you and your household. Notification inbox entries are removed after 30 days. Crash diagnostics and usage statistics are retained by Google for a limited period. Our servers keep your IP address only briefly (around a day) to prevent abuse and rate-limit requests, and standard web-server logs are kept for routine operation and security.

Deleting your data and account

You can delete individual chores, spaces and households, remove members and remove your profile photo from inside the app at any time. When you leave a household, or a space is deleted, the completion history stays so the ranking still adds up for the other members.

Because Tidy Up stores your data on our servers, deleting the app from your phone does not delete your data. If you have signed in, delete your account from Settings, under Profile. When you delete your account:

If you never signed in, deleting the app cuts the link between you and the anonymous account. If you would like that account's data removed as well, or you would like help with any deletion request, email us at contact@tantostudio.com.

Children

Tidy Up is a general-audience app and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at contact@tantostudio.com and we will take appropriate action.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU and UK) or the CCPA and CPRA (California), including the right to access, correct, delete, export or restrict the use of your personal data, and the right to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at contact@tantostudio.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

How we may disclose information

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers. We may disclose information when required by law (such as a subpoena, court order or similar legal process), or when we believe in good faith that it is necessary to protect rights and safety, prevent fraud or respond to a lawful government request.

Security

We protect your data in transit with HTTPS, and access to it requires a verified sign-in token. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we use reasonable measures to protect your information. If you sign in, keep your Apple or Google account secure, since access to it can mean access to your Tidy Up data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add or remove a service, or ship a feature that handles data differently. We will update the "Effective" date at the top, and where a change is material we will surface it in the app. Continuing to use Tidy Up after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.

Your consent

By using Tidy Up, you consent to the handling of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.
